My laptop was frozen..plz help..i don't want to lose it

Hello.
My HP laptop got frozen and i had to take out the battery to restart it. I had lost my previous ACER laptop in this same way.
It starts from here and goes up to start restarting all of a sudden and then getting completely dead. It seems to be a HW prob.

Someone please check my logs etc to find the real issue. I am nervous.

PS: No new software was installed and no virus is there.

Each member has his or her own method to solve these problems. There are no required logs for your particular situation. If you would follow these instructions, normally used for BSOD problems, we will a lot information about your computer, which would be a great help.

No dead...Even my last laptop had started getting this same prob,so i know this well.
Once starts freezing, it will happen again and again and this prob will become bigger & bigger.

My specialty is not hardware. I am more familiar with software problems. There are some things that I do know about your situation; the same problem with 2 computers, which is strange. There is some common element that causes this problem, something about where your computer is or what you are doing. Off the top, my guess would be that it is overheating. Do you overclock, do you clean out your computer, is it in a hot area, is it in an area that is well ventilated?
Clean out your computer. You may want to buy some compressed air to help clean it. If you can get it to work you may want to install something like core temp to monitor your temps. Get started on this, while you wait. Lets also hope for the best.

I keep it clean as i do regular cleaning. I suspect something else. Sometimes when i am away from my home at my farm and when there is no electricity, i run my laptop on "Home UPS 600 VA". I have heard that it causes problems in many electronic appliances. Most probably my laptops are getting killed by this. But i have to do this when there is no electricity.
I'm curious to know about the specific part which get attacked and killed by this.. The prob which my laptops are getting have some common part getting affected.

The battery will help absorb power fluctuations however it must be installed at the time you're using irregular power which I would avoid.

If your PC will not recover from freezing, or respond to Cntrl Alt Del to end processes in the Task Manager, then it may be better to hold the power button to shut it down rather than removing the battery.

Does the PC still have the HP factory install? If so that is the worst possible install of Win7 one can have, larded with the industry's worst load of bloatware and duplicate utilities which interfere with better versions built into Win7. Most tech enthusiasts won't even run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall Windows 7 .

Everything needed is in the blue link to get and keep a perfect install just like a million others have done without a single complaint.

Until then you can Clean Up Factory Bloatware and if that isn't sufficient work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

Reading and understanding these tutorials will also familarize you with the tools and methods that work best for Win7 based on tens of thousands of installs we've helped with here.

I gave you a bunch of things to read and consider. You obviously didn't have enough time to read the tutorials at the blue links to forumulate questions to ask back, so please actually read the post and everything in it before you say you don't understand.

If you don't feel like actually doing the work required then I would take it to a shop. There are no shortcuts when troubleshooting, and replying to multiple steps that you don't understand without asking any specfiic questions normally means someone doesn't want to do the work.

You can ask as many questions as you'd like, take all the time you need. We are always here.

With the battery and power cord unplugged, hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Now what happens when you insert the battery and attempt to power on? Next plug it into stable power source to try powering on. What happens exactly

well, i think my laptop has got problem by this UPS thingy and i have experienced it twice; First with Acer and now with HP. In that case, would u advise me to take this to the local shop? Even in that case, i would like to know about the possibly affected part which can cause such freezing from improper power supply.

We don't know that power fluctuations caused your freezing, just that they need to be protected from by keeping your battery installed since it acts as a surge protector.

To troubleshoot the freezing, you can try running with a boot disk like Peppermint3 - Create Live CD/DVD/USB To Use For Emergency Backup to see if it recurs. You can even unplug your hard drive from it's bay underneath to completely eliminate it and the OS as culprits then run Peppermint or a similar boot disk to see if it stabilizes. If so then you'll know the problem is with the OS or hard drive.

The OS remains a leading suspect if you have the HP factory preinstall which is the worst possible install of Win7. So you can also do a Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which will teach you a lot about the OS and your PC and how to maintain both perfectly. If the freezing stops then you'll know for sure what was the cause. If not it will point back to hardware.

Otherwise I would try to Clean Up Factory Bloatware which will greatly improve performance from the HP Factory install, and if that doesn't help then work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 which almost always uncovers the problem.

I am not an expert, so i will definitely believe what you are telling about HP factory install but at the same time, i can't forget my own experience either.. My Acer also had got the same kind of prob..
The culprit is my UPS power supply...
I will better take the system to a local shop.
