I recently got a new computer. a windows 7 x64 bit
When i plug in any headphones (they all work perfectly), windows does not detect them as headphone but as speakers. i can still hear everything fine but the audio is just not right, even my ipod, using the same headphones has more bass and clearer sound. i have tried different steps already but none seem to work. i am no computer wiz so does anybody know what can be wrong?

are you using an audio manager like Realtek? Also what exactly is your sound card info?

I have tried 3 pairs of headphones, they all do the same thing when i plug them into the computer, i doubt all 3 of them are malfunctioning. i bought 2 computers this week and both have the same audio device (realtek). both do not recognize that my headphones are plugged in. i have all my sound drivers up to date on both computers. so i doubt its my headphones that are the problem.

Are you using the Front Panel AUX port? If yes, try testing the Back AUX port if it works

What type of connection does the headphones have? If 3.5mm jacks are you sure you connecting the colored plug into the right jack....green is speakers on the headset and pink/red is for the mic. Have you tried using a usb headset and see if you get the same issue.
