Could you be more specific than saying it did not work? Does it appear in device manager? Start Menu -> Right click Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager from the list on the left. Alternatively: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager.

Does the DVD drive still show up in the BIOS? F10 when the computer first turns on to enter BIOS setup on HP computers.
