My problem with my Micro SD card

Hi guys,

I have a micros SD card. When I put it into my windows 7 machine using USB adapter, windows explorer shows that and I also can open it and see the files and folders. But I can't run the files and open the folders. When I double click on either of those, windows hangs. I even can't format it because format fails. I also tried to recover it's data using some tools but couldn't success again. I also tried scan and fix pop-up.:(
I don't think it's dead but surely there is a problem with it. Is there any idea how to fix that?

Yeah. But the problem is not to do with the reader. I have tested many micro sd by it before.

I would first determine if it's the card or the usb port by trying the card in another computer, and trying another SD card in the port. If the card fails in another computer, it's the card. In which case, you're SOL. If it's the port, you can try to reinstall the drivers for that port.

When you say you double click on the files, what kind of files are they? exe files? txt files? what do you expect is going to happen?

Hi there
Try putting the micro sd card say into a mobile phone (if you have a space for "external card" or insert it into a camera (with / without the SD==>micro SD adapter).

See if the files are readable too.

Some 32/64GB Micro SD cards aren't readable in ordinary card readers using the standard SD==>Micro sd adapters -- new ones will work just fine. You need to ensure that the SD==>micro sd adapter can handle all these : MICROSD /MICROSDHC / MICROSDXC as they don't all behave the same. The Sandisk adapter usually works on any of them though and if you insert your micro SD card into the SANDISK adapter and then insert the adapter into a card reader / camera Windows should be able to read the card.

Cheers
jimbo

The problem is to do with the card. There are three types of things there. 1- some .exe files. 2- some video files. and 3- some other folders. Double click on either of them leads to hanging.

Thanks dear jimbo,
Yes, I have inserted it into other devices. No one could read that. The problem whatever is it's inside that card. And its capacity is 8GB.

an often overlooked solution is to check the card for a lock switch. It's a small (on a micro sd - very small) tab that can be moved to lock or unlock the card.

It's a real "d'oh" moment, but sometimes it is the right fix.
