Hi folks. I am suddenly faced with a problem, which has never appeared before.
I have a HP Scanner [Scanjet 5530] which since having moved from Windows XP to Windows 7 has until the last couple of days appeared as a DEVICE, and has been workable.
However in the last couple of days it has disappeared from the list of Devices and its only by switching it's power supply off and on does it comeback.
I can then use it for whatever needs to be done, but as soon as its not needed it disappears yet again.
I am at a loss to understand what is happening, and would appreciate some advice.
Regards from the UK
David

FIRSTLY! have you update windows and updated the scanner driver to the latest driver?

As you may be using the XP driver on windows 7 as you clearly stated it worked fine on xp!? :)

Thanks for this comment. I have already downloaded the HP supplementary file for the scanner. I have been running Windows 7 for sometime, so the reference to XP was history, rather than current.

Yes but im trying to make sure sure it is infact the correct driver. Have you tried the scanner on another windows 7 system if possible to determine wether it is infact a hardware fault?

and maybe a little more information on the run up to the problem thanks maybe what you were doing on the pc and then it first happened :)
