My USB mouse is not being detected at ALL.

I got this new laptop and I used my USB mouse that worked on my older laptop aswell and it is not being detected and there are not even any error messages, literally NOTHING. My mouse does light up but it is being ignored for some reason. Not even the installing wizard can find it or whatever program that installs USB mouses.

Try it in Safe Mode. Also try a USB 2.0 port if possible.

I did both but my problem remains unsolved.

Go into BIOS (setup - when you start laptop) and see if there are any settings regarding USB, like legacy support.

The legacy USB Emulation is enabled.

It isn't even showing up in the device manager! The mouse is lit up red but it is being completely ignored, like it's invisible.

Is there anything detected in the device manager? It will tell you if there is a driver or not, if it can't find one you might be able to download the driver.

- restart
- Run DriveCleanup as admin - Drive Tools for Windows
- restart
- attach mouse only after desktop loads

After I finished getting rid of the lower and upper filter my touchpad started acting up and now it isn't working aswell!? My mouse isn't working aswell.

Upper/lower filter deletion is an intrusive method, sometimes causes problems.

You should have backed up registry as described in that guide. Right click the .reg file and merge it. You can also try re-installing touchpad driver.

Okay, I fixed my touchpad with a system restore but my USB mouse problem still persists. It just lights up red and doesn't do anything, not even the installation wizard pops up for my mouse driver(I think it's a HID complaint mouse).

Alright, open services.msc and see if Human Interface Device Access is started.

New laptop, so less likely, but run in cmd: sfc /scannow
then run: findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfcdetails.txt
and attach sfcdetails.txt

I would suggest you not making registry changes unless you are very familiar with the registry.
