Solved my windows 7 sometimes suddenly crashes

Hi Carl, back again, I hope this new year is coming smooth for you
I just installed my brand new Microsoft mouse, so I erased the KMWDFILTER.sys, the driver which we had doubts about.
I send you updated info to ask you if you could please confirm that I don't have any conflicts or old drivers around. As you see the mouse driver is still 2006 :P, but i remember you told me that doesn't matter if it's a Microsoft driver, the mouse i bought can be found in the W7 compatibility center's list.
I was working a bit about memory and bios settings (setting timings and voltage to manual and that kind of stuff), I think my system stop crashing before I changed the mouse, we'll see. If I have a crash again you'll hear from me :)
Thanks a lot Carl.

Hi, tot the info I sent you to see I have to add that my cpu was overheating quite a lot, the cores were reching the 85 degrees, just bought a can of compressed air and cleaned it, 20 degrees less :), i had a crashed after the installation of the new mouse but probably that had something to do with the crashes.

Heat can definitely cause a crash. The system shuts down to protect the hardware. Good job on cleaning up the machine. That reminds me that I have to do that, too, :)

Hi Carl, unfortunately my system keep crashing.
I'll describe last two times it happened.
The first one was playing piano (i'm musician and I use Kontakt 4 from Native Instruments), i trigger the sounds with a MIDI keyboard using sample libraries hosted in my harddrive through Kontakt which is a sampler soft.
Second time again it was playing the RST game I play, i realize t's about to crash when big part of the in-game audio stop playing, i just keep hearing certain audio layers but most of all is gone, then seconds later the game crash, but if I take it easy and don't give like a million instructions to the pc and only wait, then the pc comes back from the crashing after a coupe of minutes, of course in the meantime i lost connection with the players i was playing with but the fact is the PC comes back.
I don't know anymore what to send you, jcgriff2.zip? DXdiag? screenshots from CPU-Z, GPU-Z, CPUID HW Monitor? I want to add that memory was successfully tested with memtest86 and it's working in the right freq and with the right voltages and latencies; and the heat sink is clean and there are not heat issues.
I have the feeling that the fact the pc comes back is in a way a good hint? audio? i use different devices when i play the game (built in motherboard audio) and when i play piano (firewire MOTU interface).
Thanks a lot Carl, i'm really in need of some light....,
Marcos

If I understand correctly, you are getting crashes; but not BSOD's and depending on the load, your computer sometimes recovers on its own, is this correct? To answer your question, yes, the computer recovering on its own is a good sign. Please upload jcgriff2; I would like to take a look at the app (application) crashes.

Here is some reading you can do on Firewire. I am not suggesting that you make any changes at this time and don't make any Firewire changes with creating a restore point or a system image.

Hi Carl or any other moderator.
I'm wondering if this thread stopped having support because it was flagged as solved when it wasn't.
I'm still totally frustrated about my problem, just had it again in the middle of a match of my strategy game :(
Don't know what to do....

Hi, Marcos. I am very sorry for the delay in replying. We has a death in our extended family and I have been out of town and not online.

Thank you for uploading the JXGriff files. I did look through the JCGriff information. Your latest application crashes were caused by PFPortChecker. Something else could be conflicting and causing Prt Checker to crash. Try uninstalling PortChecker and see if this helps your system's stability. Post back and let me know.

Oh! so sorry to hear!! I wish you strength for you and you're beloved ones.

I installed the port checker not long ago, way after the crashes began. I'll uninstall it though, don't need it anymore.
Last time it crashed i had some monitoring software running, like the MooO system monitor in order to see which app was draining cpu power at the time. It turned out that probably the crash also freezed the monitor soft so the information it was giving me might not be good, but i could see mostly the cpu loader busy with audiodg and dwm. After some reading i realized many people has problems with audiodg draining lots of resources, so I changed some settings in my audio device, i ticked the box "disable all enhancements" (even though i didn't have any enhancement enabled) and in 'advanced' I unticked the two boxes under "Exclusive mode".
This together with uninstalling Port checker probably will do it?
And another thing, I belong to a community of the strategy game i play and their support guy told me that i should disable my second monitor while playing? (I have dual screen) and also that it could be a PSU related problem (I have a Corsair 650W), none of these rings the bell for me but perhaps it does for you.
I also fixed the latencies, voltage and Command rate of my RAM in the bios, they were set as auto.

Thanks a lot Carl to give me support after what happened in your family.

Marcos

Hi Carl:
Unfortunately I had a crash again. I actually believed that I'd solved it, then i tried the dual monitor and then i had a crash, then i thought it might be that, but a day after i disabled the second monitor it happened again. Same Behavior, it freezes and then it comes back.
I ran inmediately the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 and here it goes

Hi, Dean, his computer is freezing and apps are crashing. He has not had a BSOD lately.

Hi, Marcos, I am glad that you installed SP1. I am sorry to hear that you are still having freezes and crashes. Here is something that another of the BSOD squad posted in another thread on freezes.
[FONT=&quot]Quoted from Richc46

Here are my solutions to freezing, and an excellent article, which I hope is of some help
Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
Run antivirus scan
Check memory with memtest86
Make sure that you are not over heating.
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
Try a clean boot
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.
Test in safe mode, does it still happen?
Try with clean boot..

The crash he is referring to is an app crash, a freeze. It did not cause a BSOD, at least that is my understanding.

Hi Carl, It just hanged again (about 2 min and came back),
-the firewire's driver is a "legacy" now and
-i did a clean boot (disable services beside microsoft's and disable startup items)
-Did Malware check
-Checked temps (processor cores, HDD's, GPU)
-No conflicts in Device manager
-no driver conflicts (as soon as we cleaned it up already?)
-Checked memory with memtest
-Checked my HDD for errors
and still....
in case you want it i upload a new Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 but i did yesterday anyways.
