I recently purchased a MyBook Essential and Windows 7 64 bit will not recognize as a USB mass storage device. I have 2 other external HDDs that work fine, so I don't know why this one doesn't. It shows up on my old laptop which runs XP, and I also can see it in Windows 7 under Devices and Printers where it lists "MyBook 1110" under Unspecified. Any advice?

I was looking for something related & came across your post - no response???
For what it's worth I recently purchased same WD drive same OS and it works. BUT the plug & play install came up with a driver not found error - appears now to be matched to an MS generic driver. Devices & Printers see it as USB device - Type Disk drive.
