Mysterious field display behavior in Outlook 2010

I recently had to reinstall Outlook 2010 on my Win7 Pro x64 system. After pointing the app to my old .pst file I noticed a number of fields now appear empty on the left of a contact form but still display their previous content in the summary window (don't know the actual name) on the right (see attachment).

Any idea what's causing this, or how to fix it? Thanks.

I have never seen this happen, but as a first step I would suggest running the pst repair tool...

EDIT: I'd also make sure to have a backup copy of the .pst file before running the repair, in the event it makes things worse...

Hi Involute. Have you made sure your address book has been transferred to the new Outlook installation.

To do that click on File then Open & Export, then click on Import/Export, then click on Import From another Program or File, then click on Next & select Outlook Data File .pst, then click on Next & follow the directions on getting your Address Book file location by clicking on Browse if necessary to find your Address Book in your data files & then select whether you want to replace duplicates or not & then select Next & follow through to Finish.

This info is from Outlook 2013, but I think Outlook 2010 is the same.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I no longer have a .pst archive from before the problem to import from.

Unfortunately if you no longer have the archived pst and the repair did not work on the live pst then I am out of ideas. =( I would suggest always keeping the archived pst, possibly even several versions back if possible... that way if one becomes corrupt you can at least do a partial recovery from an older back up.

Have you got a System Restore that goes back before you reinstalled Outlook. If so, you could roll back to that & copy your Outlook Folder to a secure back up source, such as a USB stick. Then you will have reinstall Outlook again as your restored version will not have the new Outlook installed.
