Need a program associated with it for preforming this action

When ever I start up my computer I get the following message after my home scree is loaded "explorer.ex This file does not have a program associated with it for preforming this action please install a program or created an association in default program.

Since this is an .exe file, you might see if downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed exe option in the tutorial below may help. It will restore the default association for .exe files.

Please forgive me if I wasn't prompt in replying to your solution to my question. This is my first time sending a thank you. I hope I am on the correct site for you to read this. I should mention that I am legally blind (Vietnam war) and sometimes I miss things that are directly in front of me. I am still pondering your answer and I'm sure I will have a follow up question if you don't mind. I am very grateful for your help.
