File doesn't have a program associated with it

I'm having problems. I keep getting the message, "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action". The file is:

Programs\users\Leapforce\LeapforceExtension\NativeHost\Install.bat

I checked the Control Panel, Default Programs - Associate a file type with a program, (install.bat)? (bat)? but this file extension is not listed anywhere in the Control Panel.

I'm using Google Chrome and I also tried Control Panel - Default Programs - Set Your Default Programs and when I highlighted Chrome I chose "this program has all its defaults"

I have had the extension working fine in the past so I don't know what has changed. Can you please help me?

Hello Pamela,

Downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed .bat option in the tutorial below should be able to fix this for you. It'll restore the default associations for .bat files.

To add, a .bat file is a Batch file, goes back to DOS days and quite useful in calling the .com or .exe files of programs to open them via a keyboard shortcut. The .bat files are created or edited using a plain text editor, can also be created from the DOS prompt. Some .bat files can be run in a Windows Command Prompt window.
