Need driver HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4241 NATA DEVICE

Hello! My english is not so good, but I hope you'll understund me. I have windows 7 ultimate, and since then my hardware for burning dvd or cd doesn't work (at least I think is since that time). I need help how can I use this burning hardware, my laptop is very old, and kids want cartoons! I need to make copies for music cd that I dowloaded, but nothing. I used a lot of burning programs, but when I put empty dvd or cd, pc asks to put empty cd or dvd and put out that which I put inside (new, empty dvd or cd!). I dont know how can I help myself. I tried to find something on internet, but I can't. I found this forum...
send me location where I can download update driver for this hardware hl-dt-......

Does the hardware read disks ok (manufactured or pre-written)?

Do you have any virtual drives installed? If so try removing them.

It won't have a driver update as all DVD/CD drives use a generic driver. However....
there may be a firmware update for the drive. Visit the laptop manufacturers website, go to support and downloads and enter your model number. This will give you a list of downloads for that machine, a optical drive firmware update may or may not be listed.

When using DVD's have you tried both DVD+R and DVD-R discs, some drives will only write to one type.

I hope you are referring to legitimately purchased or royalty free downloaded copies, as we don't help people with piracy.

pc is reading discs normally. now I have dvd-, cause they told me in the shop I should buy this. i don't know for what I need driver - my english is not so good, as I said before. what is official name for hl-dt-st etc.? do I need drivers for sound, graphich...for what??? i went on compaq sites, but I didn't see hl-dt-st... my knowledg of pc is minimum... :-(

As I said it wont be a driver issue, you are looking for optical drive firmware (even 2 laptops with the exact same model number can have different optical drives, there was only a chance as firmware doesnt usually require an update), can you confirm that the lens is clean?
