Hi, I'm trying to find a way to be able to cut out bass WHILE RECORDING. I need to apply it so that I can send the file to others with the bass already removed. This is for voice recordings on my laptop, essentially dictation. AC rumble and traffic rumble are killing the recordings and make it very hard to listen to. Computer illiterate, please help! Thanks

Sounds like you have the record volume up too high and/or a defective microphone. Too high a volume level will pickup ambient sounds. AC hum is a different issue and could be a "ground loop hum" caused by some external device attached to the PC.

I have a recording studio and am keenly aware of extraneous noises getting into the voice tracks. Also, "ground loop hums" are an issue that is musicians face with multiple AC powered devices connected to an amplifier.

What type of microphone are you using? A typical "inexpensive" computer mic that is connected with an analog (stereo) plug? Or, a USB connected microphone?

The program you are using for dictation will determine whether some filter can be applied (if at all).
