Need help & advice for setting up Hard Wired & what to do for Wireless

Hi, I am taking a job with a company that is work from home. One of their requirements is that I have my computer Hard Wired to the Internet not working off my Wireless connection. My question is multi level. I only have one desktop computer and so this is where I have my Wireless router plugged in so that I can use wireless through the house. It says this, Agents are required to have a “wired” internet connection. If you have wireless router, please disable the “wireless” feature and hard wire your
equipment to the router.

That being said, I use my wireless for everything. I have a wireless printer and I also have Roku boxes and my cell phone, a Nexus pad and my net-book.

Can I hard wire the computer but still have the wireless network for using my printer etc? If so how do I set up?

The other question is I have to have a modem with at least two ethernets available for the phone that they supply. Or it says I can use a router. My internet provider is Cox so I also have to use one that is compatible with them....

I'm really confused. It doesn't seem possible to do everything. I also haven't even started working for them yet but I'm not in a position to put out a lot of money for these things right now... Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I maybe need to add that I have a Cisco E2000 Router...

This was made to order and since it was there is no documentation online about it.
I once had a similar predicament. I explained that my home internet connection was used for house-wide internet/entertainment. They immediately offered to pay for a second connection into my home. You might want to bring up such a resolution.
Or:
Get a second router. Run a router behind router setup, using your Cox/Cisco unit to hardwire into your desktop for work, disabling the wireless on it, then open your wireless on your second router. If they are somehow able to map your network, your second router should be able to block he requests. Just a thought...

Wireless routers I have seen all have ethernet ports (wired) too. I would think all you'd need to do is plug your PC into one of those. The printer could also be plugged in too so it could still be accessed wirelssly.
Cost, maybe $10-$12 for two CAT5e or CAT6 patch cables.

Hello,

In addition......I agree with the previous Posters. Are you an IT Consultant or an employee? If you are an employee will you be working a lot of hours or maybe full-time in your home office? I agree to get a second broadband connection, all devices and bills that are work related should be paid by your employer.

They require you to do that and pay for that. They don't say anything about having a network just state that you have to be willing to do it their way...

I would check this company out. If they require it they very well should provide or pay for it. Many of these work-at-home-from-your-computer jobs are just schemes, sometimes to get bank account numbers.
