I am having problems in connecting from one computer on a lan (through a router) connecting to another on the same lan. I have opened a port on my own computer, and am able to connect to it via the same computer using the LAN ip (192.168.1.x) rather than 127. Yet when I try to connect to another 192 IP the connection is rejected. I'm pretty sure I had given the application internet permissions, I have tried to port foward with no luck as well. Using Homegroup isn't an option because the information has to be transferred in real time.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to allow connections through the same router computer to computer on windows 7

You say you have forwarded ports? Undo it. Otherwise all connections on the port will be bounced back (all connections on that port are being forwarded to a single IP, even if it is the sending machine)

What EXACTLY are you trying to do? your post is a little vague.... is the problem the 2 machines arent seeing each other? or is it one specific application?

Ultimately I am trying to setup a server computer out of the several laptops in the house, except I can't seem to get them to talk to each other via router IP. I am using visual basic 6 to make a real time communication program, but I can't even get the computers to accept incoming connections; the connections aren't even being knocking on the others door, so to speak. Almost as I'm trying to connect to an IP that does not exist.
