My normal headphone input is not working properly since i broke a pair of headphones inside the connection jack . I managed to get the broken piece out, but now its not working correctly and has a short in it. I can only hear out of one side unless I hold the jack in a certain position ... well as you can imagine this would be very annoying trying to do while watching a movie or listening to music. I cant afford to have it fixed so I am trying to learn if I can use my mic input for my headphones as an audio out ? I have attached dxdiagnotics. file to this thread.

The specs on my pc are as follows :

HP G60 Notebook PC(laptop).. Windows 7 home premium 64 bit (6.1 build 760L)
Pentium (R) Dual Core CPU [email protected](2CPU's),4096MB(RAM)DirectX11.
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Sound:Conexant Pebble High Definition/Intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI

Thanks in advance for your help ! :)

I've only seen that possible on one PC. Of all the others, I've seen or worked on, the mic jack could not be remapped to be an output.

As an alternative, you could use a cheap USB connected "sound card" and use that instead of the built in sound.

Here is a cheap one I found doing a search. I have no info on it, just what I found doing the search. But for $5.75, its cheap enough. External 7 1 Channel USB Sound Card Audio for Laptop PC Computer Adapter Device | eBay
