Solved Need help getting rid of second copy of my printer in device list

Had problems with my brand new Samsung laser printer this morning and in messing around to get it working again, I have ended up with two copies of it on this list of devices.

I can right click on the mouse and choose "remove device" and it goes away but when I go back, it is back again.

Hopefully. someone can help me get rid of it forever.

Nope, just tried it for the umpteenth time and it's still there.

I've Googled everything I could find and no go. That's why I am here with my hat in my hand.

Try removing printer driver and cable as well delete any printer icons. Reboot then clean re-install driver per manufactures installation directions to the T.

I'll try.

I hate to remove the driver because I had such a hard time installing the printer software but when I get to the computer I'll give it a go and report back.

I'm pretty sure that will fix it but I was very hesitant.

Did it and Copy is gone. I hated to do that but at least it worked.

NOW-I get the message "The driver for universal serial bus controller is not installed.
Install the latest Driver for this device".

Well, the printer is working fine and I did install the only USB program for this motherboard that I have and I still get the message.

What exactly is that graphic in the devices and printers? If I knew, I might be able to find the driver it is wanting.

That spec you see is for my main computer.

THIS motherboard is ASRock B75M-GL.

What does the graphic for the "sick" device indicate? That would be very helpful. Is that supposed to be the computer?

OK, there are Intel drivers for that Mobo,

ASRock > B75M-GL

It may be easier to just post that log from the tutorial.

Are you using a USB 3 port (colored blue usually) by any chance? Can you try a USB 2 port if so?

Well, those Intel USB 3.0 drivers are the same ones I've been installing- and installing and installing 1.0.5.235.

Still get the message. I have never gotten that message in the 4 years I've been using it.

I wonder if it is looking for something else?

When I get to the computer in question I'll try to show system information.

What am I supposed to have plugged into a USB 2.0 port or USB 3.0 port. I don't think it is complaining about a device. Looks more like the computer in general.

Ah, I guess I mis-read. Perhaps your chipset drivers also have some USB drivers included. Worth to check them. As a side note, I think it is best to use a USB 2 port for a printer (but that's me).

I am now sure that it isn't the Intel drivers that are missing because everything seems to be working fine.

Nothing. I've only printed a few pages with this new printer. The toner carts are 50 bucks apiece so I really take it easy on printing.

Anyway, I checked the Device and printer place and there was no mark on the computer. Just rebooted and it tried to install software for a device which it didn't know with a driver which it didn't know.

Not much help, eh?

I built this computer (and 2 others just like it) and have never experienced this before.

Once again, I find no problem with any USB device which has me stumped. Maybe I should just forget it.

The computer icon in Devices and Printers shows a yellow triangle?

Right click on your Computer (Hamshock) icon in Devices and Printers->Properties. Select Hardware tab.

Scroll down. I'm guessing you'll see a device listed with that yellow triangle. Select the device and click the Properties button. Give us a snapshot of what you get.
