Thanks for suggestion Dzomlija, and my application for Hotel Users .
But i have done start menu disabling in XP and Vista Systems . thats why i am searching for Windows 7. and its not a big deal to change explorer.exe throght resource hacker.

Since you're keen on editing the registry, try changing the value of "Shell" in the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Just make sure your application has a way of toggling the value from EXPLORER.EXE to YOURAPP.EXE - which I think can be done by Media Center (at least, Media Center Vista had that option)

If you replace the EXPLORER.EXE shell as i mentioned in your other post (http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/70146-need-help-please.html#post618415), then you won't need to worry about the show desktop icon, the start menu or the taskbar entirely.

But again, just make sure your app has the means of setting the shell back to explorer.

to

If the value will be changed my problem wiil solved.
The registry for disable menu band in windows explorer and start menu .

What are you trying to do? If you are trying to disable the taskbar, you can try using this program: Hide Windows 7 taskbar with Taskbar Eliminator. | The Windows Club

Could it be those registry hacks are for XP?

I have typical requirement. My client needs windows explorer too....
To save files in particular Virtual folder and viewing his files .
so i need to taskbar also. i replaced explorer.exe to my app. but its not working for me.
that why im looking to change registry's .Almost my Project done except these minor changes .. In XP and vista we have one registry
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{5b4dae26-b807-11d0-9815-00c04fd91972} to disable the startmenu and menu band in windows explorer. but im getting error changing in windows 7

It should read as follows:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\-{5b4dae26-b807-11d0-9815-00c04fd91972}

Note that you should make a backup of the registry before making any changes to it. If you have problems after making such changes, you should be able to recover from the backups. Serious problems may necessitate in the reinstallation of the OS.

You might need to elevate your program to run as admin. It's possible that UAC is causing the error.

Perhaps turning UAC off altogether (NOT A GOOD IDEA)

hmmm. No use mate.. i already changed that UAC , All registry edits working Except this menu band. I dint get answer by google also... I done all the basic things dear. den i posted a query in this forum...

its a requirement for an application that he is developing. I guess its some kind of POS application for the hotel industry.

Is it possible disabling start menu ?

now why the heck would you want to disable the start menu ? How would you expect to be able to use the computer in that case then ? You wouldn't be able to access your programs for instance. lol

You are right Gladson. Im developing App in vb.net . I have done my app completely except this two tasks. disabling start menu and show desktop button. I don't knowwhy this registry not changing in Windows 7 only... i have done in XP and vista tooo....

I changed UAC to Never Notify , I am able to edit all registry keys.. still i am getting error for this particular key only...

I am restoring registry when my application closed. Its not a big deal . i need to change above key to negative.....

Maybe you didn't got administrator authority. Do like this: right click on the item which you want to edit,permissions,advanced,change the owner to your present account,OK,edit your permissions to full control.
When you have done all above,you'll find you can edit the item.
