Hi ddddrelease,

Re-installing the OS using Dell recovery media should not be a problem, they will not supply you with infected discs, yes there is bloatware, but ActiveX is REQUIRED for all W7 installs.
Clean Up Factory Bloatware - Windows 7 Help Forums

Most security/malware forums will advise a clean re-install after a rootkit infection, my advice too.

Welcome to the Forum.

Agree with Roy, best solution is to do a clean re-install:
- Backup your data to an external disk.
- Do a Factory Recover. It will format the C: partition and reinstall Windows as it came from Dell.
- For the updates: MS releases SP2 for Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums
