Need Help With a Simple Problem

This problem sounds so easy I am ALMOST ashamed to ask it, but as you see, I am asking. == I have my laptop and I took the cover off the back. There are five screws in the cover which screw to the laptop. Got the picture I hope. I was going to replace the screws as the area where the Phillips Screwdriver fits is wearing. I got the back off but the screws that are in the hole of the cover seem to stay there no matter how much I unscrew. Have any of you run across a problem like this before? I hope one of you has a "Secret Hint" to get the screws out of the cover. Thanks,

You migh turn the laptop where the screw heads are facing downwards, and gently shake the laptop a bit to see if the screws may fall out then.

Yes, I have the cover off and the screws are still in the cover. I have unscrewed a bunch (the screws are turning) but they don't seem to come out of the hole. I just thought I might be overlooking a simple way to get them out of the cover.

Put pressure on the pointed end of the screw and at the same time unscrew it.

At the present time the screw is riding on the clean shank of the screw and you need to start the threaded part of the screw to back it out.

These screws are made out of a PVC type material instead of metal. I am not quite sure what the thinking was there. They even recommend changing them after a few openings because the Philips-Hole wears out. I am afraid the things will strip out on me. I guess I should leave well enough alone and not open it until I need to. Thanks to everyone for the assistance.

Mine is fairly new, from 2011. I just don't understand putting in PVC screws
