need help with my laptop

I don't know if somebody can help me but I have a Dell Latitude d 620 I'm putting a new hard drive into it and I just put a new RAM in it I am wanting to download windows home Premium 7 onto it it was a former XP computer and somebody please explain to me which one would be better please I'm trying I don't know whether to get a 64 bit or a 32 bit so if you can please respond thank you

The rule of thumb is that if your laptop hardware supports 64 bit, to go ahead and use 64 bit, particularly if you have more than 4 GB of RAM.

Most laptops made in the last 3 or 4 years will support 64-bit.

I think your laptop is about 8 or 9 years old and may have a T2400 Intel processor.

Dell Latitude D620 Review (pics, specs)

Intel says that processor has a 32-bit instruction set. If so, I don't think you are going to have any luck with 64-bit Windows.
