Sarcasm sometimes works, sometimes not.
Will you be sentenced to jail if you lie in your tax declaration? No. That you will not be sentenced to jail when lying in your tax declaration does not make it legal. It is and remains illegal, an act against the law even if you will not be sentenced.
Using an invalid, maybe cracked Windows is in my opinion about the same than thinking that because benzine and diesel cost so much and I cannot afford to get my car fueled, I just steal fuel from the closest Shell station to avoid paying for it. Or to need a bike and steal one because they are too expensive to buy. Or crack my neighbors WiFi security key and use his connection to save money, not subscribe my own Internet connection.
All above examples are illegal, none of them would cause any jail time even if you got caught. Nevertheless, you would break the law.
A simple question for those with cracked, illegal Windows: Do you think it's OK to steal the computer, too? I mean if you see no issues in stealing an OS, intellectual property of someone else, why would stealing the full computer with an OS be any different?
