This computer is Dell and had an OEM image and was activated. Had some issues unable to remove from domain so had to be re-installed. I got a Dell OEM image and did a clean install after backing up the keys with Produkeys (https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html). Made sure the OEM product ID was an exact match with what was backed up but will not activate. I'm not sure what I'm missing here, if someone notices an issue I'd be grateful for some assistance! There is no sticker anywhere on this laptop so using software to grab the keys is the only way I'm aware of.

I've tried doing it manually with slmgr by uninstalling, re-installing keys and re-activating and also tried a batch file I found on another thread with a similar issue to mine by Shawn Brink that does this:

REG ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OOBE /V MediaBootInstall /T REG_DWORD /D 0 /F

slmgr /rearm

Thanks in advance!

I feel pretty stupid now but might have an important update. I just found a Windows 8 sticker on the bottom. Now I'm thinking that the bios key is for 8 but they have manually downgraded it to 7 in the past. If that's the case maybe the bios key is interfering because of a mismatch? I didn't think 7 had the capability to read bios keys though, thought that started with 8. Could this be my missing piece?

Thanks!

Reinstalling from the Dell OEM image should self-activate from the generic OEM key contained in the Dell image and the SLP maker embedded in the bios. For details of how it should work see this thread.

...All Dell machines installed with Windows 7 Professional will have the same OEM SLP key.

...These machines have an identifier SLIC table embedded in the bios and when the installed OEM Files and key match with the SLIC, they get activated.

In cases where the SLIC table gets corrupted, such OEM activation will not go through. You can then use the Product Key on the sticker to activate your Windows.

The CoA sticker is only required if the SLP activation fails.

There is no sticker anywhere on this laptop...

Have you looked under the battery? Sometimes the CoA sticker is hidden there.

Ah, that would be your problem. Yes, from W8 onwards a full key was embedded in the bios. Up to October 31, 2016 OEMs were allowed to sell a downgrade to W7 with a machine designed for W8/10, but it would still have its valid W8/10 key embedded in the firmware. See the 'End of Sales' section here:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet

Your best bet is to contact Dell Support for advice on reinstalling W7 on such a machine.

That's what I was doing when I noticed the 8 sticker. Thought I might get lucky but no dice.
I can't find anything on Dell's site for an image download for this service tag. I may have to reach out to them.

I can't find anything on Dell's site for an image download for this service tag.

What is the model? DELL have a very large iso for win7Pro which seems to be for a lot of their machines.

You can get the link from heidoc -G13K9_PW4KGA00_W7SP1PRO64_ROW(DL).iso but it is a massive iso over 7gb because it is multi language.

Try 7oeminstaller first.
