Solved Need some files for CheckSUR fix

Howdy everyone,

I'm looking for undamaged copies of the files mentioned in the attached text file for a CheckSUR repair of my system. I've managed to track down a few more that were required and CheckSUR replaced them, but I'm still missing these. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. (Does the version matter in this case? If so it is Ultimate.)

All right, CheckSUR ran for nearly one and a half hours (I thought it had hung) but finally completed. The log has shrunk by leaps and bounds and no missing files are reported now, so that's awesome. :D

Only problem left is a few missing keys:

Guess these are all related to Cryptographic components, because that's what the Windows Update troubleshooter said it could not fix. Cryptographic Services (CryptSvc) is set to Automatic and is Started.

Can you please help? Where in the registry do I need to recreate these missing keys? Note that Windows Update (after a long time) now finally says that the system is up to date, but I want a clean bill of health from CheckSUR. :)

I was hoping that wouldn't happen.
Missing Component Keys are a pain :( - I've never been happy about the way I attempt to fix them.


I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

I've attempted to fix only the first error present in that list.
Let's see how what I've done works before I try the rest!

I've uploaded a file - rywab.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

If you get an error with any command, STOP THERE - do not reboot! - post for instructions.

Assuming all commands go OK, reboot, and run another CheckSUR scan - post the new CheckSUR.log file.

Looks like two of the CSI Missing Winning Component Key entries are now CSI C Mark Deployment Missing instead, whatever that means. :rolleyes: So, what next? :)

Hmmm - this is getting complicated! one of the changes requires over 5000 registry entries, and I'm not happy about that :(

I'll do the others and we'll see what CheckSUR manages to do with the result - but we may have to go to Plan B.

I think I'd better have a new copy of the COMPONENTS hive to work with - I don't want to go re-introducing too many errors!
( I can work with the one I have, but should preferably modify the active copy you have.)
