Hi

im using a pc with core 2 duo E7300 , motherboard - DG35EC intel, VGA - 9500GT nvidia, 4GB DDR2 RAM

im thinking of getting a new Video card maybe a 9800GT. is it possible to use both video cards 9500GT and a 9800GT with SLI technology?

if possible what is the motherboard i should get?

Sorry for the language errors.

Thanks

No you cannont do that for several reasons.

First with sli you need to use the same card numbers, for example two 9800's, usually it is prefered that you have two of the exact same card, same brand, core clock, vram etc.

Second your motherboard does not support multiple gpu setups.

Third, (although related to the second) that mobo only has one pci express slot, so there would be nowhere to put the second gpu any how.

No you can't and you need a SLI capable notherboard. And preferably a SLI rated PSU.
You could run 2 x 9800 GT's in SLI with a 9500 set as a dedicated PhysX card separate to the 98's. However that would require a Motherboard with the necessary PCI slots and a PSU capable or powering it all.

If you buy a board look for a SLI capable board..Gigabyte, ASUS e.g..It will be mentioned on board specs..if your unsure link it here and someone will tell you yes or no..I stopped using a core duo a while ago but the board I was using then was a EVGA branded...780i SLI from memory...not sure if you can get them now tho.

Personally atm i prefer NV...tho i swap around depending on whats the best at the time.
A NV GTX 460 1Gb card would be a nice upgrade for you if you can find a new one..failing that a 560/570 and if you want to go ATI then a 6850/6870 1gb versions of.

Bear in mind these cards use a lot more power. Yoi need to see if your PSU will run them and check to see if it has the required connectors..tho most cards come with adaptors.

Not a big gamer here, but you might want to consider nVidia GTX 460 based cards, or ATI Radeon 6850 cards.

Either would require a 450W power supply with two 6 pin PCI-E power connectors. (You may be able to use a molex-to-PCI-E power adapter, but it's not the preferred approach.)

I assume your based stateside of the pond...$150 should get you close to a 6850 or 460 card..don't know what the Crysis 2 Video requirements might be tho..the first game was a killer on the then hi end gear...this one has been consolefied tho so maybe it wont be so hard to run with luck.
You will need 2 x6 pin connectors tho and preferably a dedicated rail for the card but as I said you could use a molex adaptor normally supplied with the card but as stated above it's not the prefered option

Thanks all for the information. its really helpful.

Asus ENGT220 card is good? anyone using it? hows the performance?

The gt 220 is a low end card that wont be able to do that much, maybe play some games on the lowest settings and playback media fine but thats it, it is quite below a 9800gt a gts 250 is on par with a 9800gt btw.

I cant stress this enougth, it is important to have a good quality power supply, not a cheap one, there is significantly more you need to know psu than just the wattage, for example how many amps are available on the 12v rail (low amps means you can really put any half decent gpu on there at all) a cheap bad psu can blow out your entire system due to low quality parts not regulating the power properly, I strongly recoommend you buy a good psu first and if needed wait until you have enough cash for a gpu.

Brands like seasonic, antec, corsair are all excellent.

Make sure your PSU has the necessary AMPs on the 12v rail to run your card...it's not just about watts...the brands mentioned above are all good PSU's and well worth the investment.
Why would you buy a 220? thats a low end card now days...buy a 460/6850...Crysis 2 is released in a few days so if thats what this upgrade is for I'd sort of wait a little just to find out from ppl that buy and install the game to start posting on how it's running on there hardware. I think a 220 is going to struggle to run it at any sort of decent settings..remains to be seen tho.
cheers

which ever way you go, certainly do a full clean sweep of your current graphics drivers before installing the new card and it's related drivers.
