Hello,

I am in need of some help. I recently got my xbox 360 to finally work in win7 (ie: green light to come on while in win7) but only after a popup screen came up show me that I had set a feature off. That feature was to set win7 to automatically search online for a driver update. I thought this was the same as Win7 update but it's not as the settings for that was different then the popup screen. I thought I could go to hardware settings (from system) and gain access to it but that too is a no go. I would have took a pic if I thought it was that difficult to find. So I hope I'm making sense.

Can anyone help? Again, I want to set win7 to always look for device drivers online if they are not found on the hard drive. But it's not the same feature as win7 update. It's outlined in a Yes and No checkmarks. Yes doesn't have any subsections while No does asking:
-always install the best driver software from windows update
-Install driver software from windows update if it is not found on my computer
-never install driver software from windows update

That's the format of the popup screen I'm looking for.

Go to help and support and type drivers. You will get all the information that is needed. It is easier than having me give my ideas.
It will be in the first section after you select drivers.

That being said, this is the better way.
More difficult, but you will not get the one driver fits all.
How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper

Yeah, I've viewed the change settings section for win7 update. But that reads something different than the popup screen which was set to "never check online for updates".

Ok, using the help and support actually worked, I found it. You have to go to:
-Device and Printers
-Right click on my computer (whatever name you gave it). It's should be the 1st icon
-Select Device Installation Settings

Device Installation Settings is the name of the popup screen. Once I configured the settings to search online for drivers solved the problem for both xbox360 HD Drive and my printer. Thank you :)
