Solved Need to obtain Product Key

I have purchased a surplus Dell E6420. The HD had been removed for security. I installed a new HD and copied Win 7 from a disc from another computer. I need to obtain an Product Key to activate.

Unless there is a COA or product key stuck to the computer's case somewhere, you are out of luck.



The best thing to do if you don't have a COA like the ones above is to buy a new copy of Windows 7 and install that. That will give you a proper license key.

It might be worth contacting Dell & see if you can get a Windows 7 disc from them.

On some laptops the COA key is in the battery compartment

On my laptop, there is a spare compartment for I don't know what. The COA is in there.
