Need to recover files from a corrupt unreadable NTFS harddrive

I'm in desperate need to recover things from my corrupted D drive. When I click on it, it says D:\ is not accessible. The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. When I restart it always does chkdsk for that drive, but it can't repair the corrupt master file table, and it's the same result where the drive is unreadable. I used the Getdata recover my files software to recover the drive. It didn't find the things I desperately need, and I noticed a bunch of files it recovered is now corrupt.

The most important thing I need to recover is a windows movie maker project that I've spent hours upon hours upon hours on for a music video. I so desperately need that .mswmm file. This software found just about all of my windows movie maker projects except that one, just my luck.

The second most important thing I need is my Adobe Audition session files along with the wav's for the sessions. I have a new computer I should be getting today, and my friend will be over in 2 days. I need to figure something out quickly cause he will need to format the drive which will make it lose everything. He is pretty sure that the drive will be unreadable on his laptop which he's bringing over.

It recovered 2 936gb files and a 465 gb file with no file extensions that were labeled $BadClus~$Bad_1 $BadClus~$Bad_3 & $BadClus~$Bad_4 Is there anything I can do to open these files to try to retrieve anything from it?

Actually the programs to recover deleted and corrupted files from a drive are not very professional inspite of what they claim. In my experience they hardly ever do a good and professional job.

Only a real professional can make a good and acceptable recovery of corrupted files from a corrupted drive. These professionals charge the earth for it. For Home Users it is hardly ever worth it. But that is my opinion. May be there are others who can give good guidance on this subject so that you are able to recover your data.

I wish you Good Luck

CHKDSK scans your hard drives for errors such as lost sectors, bad sectors and corruption.
I don't think it cares what types of files they are!

Is there anyway to fix a corrupt master file table outside of chkdsk? Chkdsk couldn't fix it. My friend is coming over tomorrow to setup my new computer and will have to settle with whatever recovery options he decides on. I imagine my file names and folders will not be intact and I'll have a bunch of random file names doing it his way. Fixing the corrupt master file table seems like the only way to get everything back as is before he comes over.
