Hello,

Have a Dell E1505 thats about 3 or 4 years old and the battery hasn't held a charge right in a long time, ...as expected.

What I see on-line are so many offers with prices varying from $79.00 for a 7800 mAh 87wHr @ Laptop battery depot to what Dell has 9-cell 85wHr for $155.99.

So the real problem is where is the best honorable place to buy a bat. at a reasonable price. The Dell cost is NO Option, ...way too much, but I'm leery of getting what is a slightly better/longer lasting (according to their specs) that is 75 dollars cheaper. Cheaper b/c laptop manufactures mark their batteries up so much, or are they crap???

Can those who have replaced there battery post with there place of purchase, was it reasonably priced, and is it just as good if not better than laptop factory stamped batteries?

I just have no idea where to buy or who to trust.

Thnx

I have bought replacement batteries and chargers from Amazon (same as The Wolves suggested) and Newegg with no problems.

Batteries are not high tech components. As long as the specs match up you should be fine. I base my purchase on buyer ratings and number of sales. If many people buy the brand and most are satisfied then you can assume the product is good.

To answer your question: The OEM's mark up the parts ridiculously.

That looks like a match to your laptop and the price is right.
Does the original battery number match up to the replacement battery list?
If so then you have a match!

I replaced my daughter's OEM 6-cell battery with an Amazon 12-cell replacement. A huge improvement. She can get almost 6 hours of continuous use and the large battery lifts the back of the laptop off the desk and greatly improves cooling. Just a thought if they have one!

Yes it does match both model E1505 and the Model Number on the Battery itself.
Think my current is 6 cell this would be a 9 cell.

I don't think that is an issue. The power supply connects to the laptop connector and that connection is the important spec.
The number of cells is just a matter of how much juice can be stored. It will take longer to charge 9 cells than 6.

But it is always a good idea to check anyway!

Search ebay for US based sellers of your laptop battery. I bought mine on ebay, and it even had the HP spare OEM sticker on it for my DV9000

Went ahead and ordered from Brainydeal @ Amazon, same guy Wolves linked too.

Choose this battery:

Amazon.com: 7200mAh 9 CELL Replacement DELL Inspiron 6400 1501 E1505 Latitude 131L Laptop Battery 312-0428 0UD260 KD476 GD761 GD761 KD476 series Laptop w/ USB 2.0 All in one card reader -- 80Whr Replacement Battery: Electronics

Same one I linked to earlier in the thread.

Thanks for the replies, Under $44 with shipping!

Awesome, can't wait to be mobile with this thing again! I would always put it to sleep, unplug, run and plug it back in as fast as possible, ...thats how bad my current battery is.

I'll do my very best to remember. :geek:

PM me when you need to replace. I may not post too much here as I first did, but I always sign in at least once a week.

This time around I will work the battery at least twice a month. Something I was unaware of when I first got laptop. If your always plugged in, charge the battery and then take it out! At the same time I would say at least twice a month connect and/or use the battery almost all the way down, then fully charge it back up.

Thats where I made my mistake, Laptop was always plugged in with batt. and I didn't use it enough or frequently enough.

Taking the battery out while running on power supply is a good way to extend the life of the battery.
But running the battery all the way down before charging it is no longer of much use. That is a hold-over from the days of Ni-Cad batteries. Lithium-ion batteries do not benefit.

Got the battery today. When I recieved it and installed it the laptop was off and I switched them out.

Then I booted into bios justs to see if the bios could read it and it did, it reported it was about 44%.

So I turned off the laptop and about an hour and a half later it was fully charged. I just ran it down just being on the net mainly with about 40% brightness and nothing much running in background and got about 3 hours. That's better than the original one. I only got 2 to 2 and half hours with that one.

I took the battery out after it went all the way down and am waiting for it cool down as per instructions. It says to charge again with laptop off, run it down, take it out, cool it, then recharge. Once more and thats it, use as you wish, but the instructions did state to fully charge with pc off, run it down, take it out till cool, reinstall with pc off to charge and wait, then run it down again. It states to do this three times.

I'll be more carefull about leaving it in when not needed and use it all the way down at least twice a month. Hopefully it will last, but got it fast and in great condition and the free sd card usb reader came too, which is cool cause none of my home builds don't have any, just the laptops. Wish I had a SD card to check. lol

I'm sure it works and this seller I beleive is realible and trustworthy with quality parts. I would buuy from him again.

Anyhoo, in a few weeks I'll post back and report on its performance.

Just wanted to add after the 3rd rundown and charge, wanted to see just how far it would go with screen brightness all the way down, screen saver running, with a few control panel windows open along with ccleaner. No Wifi Conn. Really nothing that should draw a lot from batt. Well I got just over 3.5 hours. Not bad for an Intel core2 duo 1.83 15.4 rez 1680x1050 Notebook! The original batt didn't do this well. Of course with use, this number would have been lower, but it's definitely a quality product.

If you need a battery, justs go Amazon (easy for 1st timers and even easier for the regulars), just use one of the links above to get you started then search within, but I will by a battery from this seller "Brainydeals" again when its time. Great prices with free-bee's and I got in like 3 days.

My total purchase price with battery and free sd card reader/usb was $44.94 shipping included. He ships with the Postal Service and you do get a tracking #, but it arrived so fast I never bothered to track it.

Questions: What with a new battery should the lowest % of the "critical" battery level be (Initiate hibernation)? Currently have mine set at 10%. Can it be lower and still go into Hibernate OK at say 5%? And then as the battery ages bump it up if I see problems with hibernation not completing before it goes dead as in dead/dead.

Thnx :)

Cool, that should add about five to ten more minutes to the run time of the battery, Thanks LiquidSnak! :)

...And that doesn't harm the battery being run down that low?
