I don't know if this is the right thread

I'm trying to burn a piece a DVD. I got a DVD file from a friend and I have converted to every single format in a bunch of different software and no matter what I try I can't get any audio on the DVD or the ISO file.

There is audio in the AVI but no Audio in the ISO or the MPEG. Is it possible to have coded the AVI to make it impossible to burn the AVI too DVD??

I have already opened up the file to find out exactly what the Audio codec is and then tried to burn it with that setting and too no avail. I have NO IDEA what to do. I have wasted like 5 DVD's already. I'm lost!

Anybody?

AVI ??? AVI is a container format and not suitable for DVDs
That it doesn't make any sense (to me) to convert a DVD to an AVI then to an ISO to burn a new DVD
A Tip at first:
Next time you make an ISO, play it with VLC first to see if it has sound/picture OK before you waste another blanc ;)
As for your troubled Disc..the way I would go about that is this
First I try to rip the disc with DVDShrink directly to ISO which then gets burned on a blanc.

If that rip fails I use DVDFab (it's a trial) to rip the parts I want to Harddrive first and use then DVDShrink on that directory (it's faster that way compared to have DVDFab create the ISO)

Or you could as well use DVD Rebuilder Free. Read HERE How that goes exactly

No, Its not an AVI. The AVI works fine. What ever I converted and burned DIDN't work, MPEG or ISO. I could use nero to convert or I could convert on my own. Still DIDN't Work. I got it too work.....AC3Filer....
Weak!!!!!! I spent 4 hours last night and half the day today to figure that I need the filer. I donwloaded so many codec packs and its not in any codec packs. Its a completely separate filter annnnnnd I was only looking to play it on my PS3 and I didn't need the filer to play it in my Ps. I just didn't try it. I put the DVDS in my comp after they where done burning, when they didn't work i just figured they where all messed up. but I put one in while the filter was dling for the fun of it and it friggin' worked! After i wasted all those DVDS! Grrrrr!!! Thanks though!

You'll probably find that burning the DVD at a slower speed may help in stopping the DVD hanging on your PS. The PS3 has a much stronger laser as it reads Blu-Ray and the PS isn't 100% designed to run user DVDs. It's all a bit trial & error to be honest.

update just seen your new post.

I would still try a slower speed as your PC has a (yet) stronger laser for burning to disks so it will read almost anything.

ok, Slowing it down didn't work. But I can Fast Forward past the part and it seems to work fine for now. I don't know if it will keep working but if i ffw past that part it seems to work. I had another movie that was like that. It was old though. And I got it from a friend a looong time ago.
I dunno.. WtF

Sounds like file corruption to me, it works fine then stops or the dvd's your using just don't like your burner. The only program I know of that does a fine job on converting an .avi to dvd format ready to burn to dvd is vso's "convertXtodvd" it never failed me and it's easy to use....
