I got the NetGear WNDR3400 router and I have nothing but trouble. It's suposed to be a gaming router, but eventough I'm only using the WiFi for phones, tablets, and non-gaming laptops... the wifi doesn't even reach 20 yards at times! Or it would be connected and I would get no internet at all!

Anybody having the same problem? If not, what could be the problem? I didn't change anything in the router other than give the WiFi a password. Haven't touched any other features.

Hi there,

I've had a similar model to yours, but all seems well.

What is your signed up bandwidth? Can you please post your speedtest and also a snip capture of Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector coming from your computer?

Any other wireless devices in your network that's having an issue as well?

I don't use WiFi, but I will try to get my roommates laptop and let it give you a run on that Wi-Fi Inspector. I do know that I already changed the channel to a different one. This program said most of the routers were on channel 1.

We should be getting about 450Kb/s download and 60Kb/s upload.

Thanks for posting the required info. You've mentioned that you don't use Wi-Fi but only tablets and smart phones. These devices are also connected to your router and your Speed won't be sufficient for heavy gaming. Although you have a gaming router, it doesn't mean that your connection will be better. Bandwidth plays a big role if other devices are sharing with your bandwidth - wired or wireless devices.

I do know that, but should my Wi-Fi suffer that bad? I literally take 20 steps away and my phone will connect to my wifi, but won't pick up the internet... even when nobody is on it except me.

Still want that wifi connection pic?

Sorry for the late reply, but I fixed the problem. I tested out another router and it has the same problem due to that much interference. I did, however, change my router to 300mbps on the wifi. It wouldn't work on a lower setting due to all the Wi-Fi connections outhere.

Thanks for your patience!

Anybody having the same problem?

Do you or a friend have an android device/phone? Get the "wifi analyzer" app (free) as it has a lot of information available for each frequency range that might help get started with the issues.
