Network adapter/wired ethernet problem

I have googled this problem for hours now with still no solution.

gigabyte p67-ud4-b3 motherboard
windows 7 home premium

it was 100% working until something crashed my system and it wouldnt boot up again blablabla. so i reset comos and everything was fine/back to normal, except that my internet wasn't working. there is no network adapter in device manager.

i've tried a system restore, completely re-installing windows 7 + all the drivers that i did before, downloading the lan driver from the gigabyte website for my motherboard, nothing has gotten it to work. i had trouble with this problem the 1st time i installed windows 7, but somehow it fixed its self after 1 re-install. but now no matter how many times i re install it won't work. i'm pretty sure its not a hardware problem because it WAS working b4...but i have no idea how to get it to work again.

any help would be muuuuch appreciated.

One thing that could be the problem is that when you reset the cmos, did you check the peripherals to see if the internal ethernet port is activated?? some can be turned off and that could be the default, although it would be wierd to do that. Just a thought.

Simple fact is if it's not being seen, at ALL, in Device manager and no error (Unknown Device) then it IS a hardware problem. Probably the same hardware problem you have had all along. Only now it is DEAD DEAD DEAD.
Time to RMA the board or just stick a PCI/E Ethernet adapter on the board.

yes that what i was thinking too, it says onboard h/w lan is enabled and the only thing that i found was disabled was onboard lan boot rom, which didnt make a difference if i enabled it or not. am i just looking in the wrong place? or is that all the options ><

what makes me think its not a hardware problem is i had this problem once before, but when i reinstalled windows 7 it worked. so how can it not work, work, then not work again. i dont think it would be a loose wire or something like that since its build into the motherboard. the fact that i got it working once makes me think i can do it again, i just don't know how/specifically what i did to make it work again the 1st time.

It could be as simple as bad solder joint, causing intermittent connection. Yes some times it works some times it doesn't. As the board heats up everything moves. Heat, cool, heat, cool over and over. Eventually the bad joint fails.

Look and see if the maker has some type of diagnostic program to check all the components.

Simple fact is if, as someone else pointed out, it is enabled in the BIOS Windows 7 will see it. It might not have built in drivers for it but it will see it and give you a unknown device in device manager.

wel thanks for info. *sighs* i guess there is no other option then concluding that it is a hardware issue >< it wasn't even working on ubuntu lol.

This kinda confirms that you have a hardware problem, if ubuntu does not find the network adapter, then it has to be hardware.

Could you take another look in bios as that is the pointer to disabled or turned off in bios.
