I'm about ready to rip my hair out.

You see I have an ASUS N53JQ Laptop that has Windows 7 32-bit installed on it.
For some random reason I started getting BSOD with ATHR.SYS being the cause.

BSOD: athr.sys/DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - HP Support Forum - 109035 I had tried this link only to realize that without a "setup" file there is no way in hell windows is going to let me get this driver installed no matter how directly I point at the file I want installed. It just keeps saying that Atheros AR9285 is up to date.

I am about to flip a damn table, this is driving me insane. Someone please help me out!

Edit: I've uploaded my information. Someone please check it out...

The existing network driver is quite outdated.

If you attempt a Windows Update, is an updated driver offerred underr the Optional updates?

Nope, it keeps using the outdated one...

You will need to uninstall the existing driver, then reinstall the new one from Device Manager.

Hey Golden. I get what your saying but here's what's happening.

If I do not disable Automatic Driver Update Policy through "GPedit.msc" then in the middle of the installation windows will say "hey! hes trying to get a new driver!" and automatically downloads and installs the SAME old one.

If I DO disable Automatic Driver Updates through policy with gpedit.msc. Then while I try to install the new driver windows will still attempt to install the old driver, but the policy always blocks it. While the new Driver Setup says it's completed and everything's fine I go into Device manager, nothing but a "Network Adapter" with a exclamation point and yellow triangle in "Other Devices" and no sign of a new driver installed in the Network location.

If I try installing it through Device manager windows will say "screw your opinion" and install the old one anyways saying "your drivers are now up to date (:" . If I disable automatic updates then it will say it couldn't find anything
