Hi Everyone,

Okay so heres my problem,

I have a windows xp laptop, which gets its internet from a USB modem from my ISP. Now I have connected my laptop using an STRAIGHT ethernet cable to a hub.

I used the default Windows XP Network Setup wizard, and I have set the computer as the main computer which shares the internet.

I have connected the the Windows XP ethernet wire to the UPLINK of my hub.

Now I want to share my internet to my Windows 7 laptop, I have a CROSSOVER Cable and I have connected that to one of my 8 ports of my hub and the other end to my laptop.

But windows 7 won't recognize it , and keeps saying its unidentified network. I have set a home group , and rechecked that the workgroup is WORKGROUP on both pc's but the windows 7 won't detect it. (I have done this before using Windows XP , to Windows XP and works fine .)

But however when I connect the Windows XP Laptop to my Windows 7 Laptop directly using the crossover cable it works fine once I reset the Local Area Network Connection of the Windows 7 Laptop and the internet sharing begins.

Any Ideas?

Thanks :)

Might be worth it to simply get a router instead of a hub? You'll save the money on pain killers when troubleshooting it ;)

:) Haha well this is just temporary , I am out of home right now, that's why its this crazy setup. And again why I need the hub is because I need to connect more than 2 computers now, I currently use connectify on my windows 7 laptop for mobile devices but I need to start transfer of data and hence need wired connection.

Why don't you dump the hub and just connect the 2 computers to each other with the crossover cable?
