New build cannot start

Hey guys.

I just bought my whole new build. Including motherboard, ram, cpu.
You can check the specs in my spec list.

This is the first time I builded a pc, so anything is possible.

Everytime I try to boot the new pc, the fans just starts and go off. Like the whole computer turns on then off, happens in like 1 sec.

The motherboard is P8 Z68-V Pro. If you think I mounted something wrong, tell me the possibilities what could have gone wrong.

Please reply as fast as you can as it's so fustrating.

Remove and reseat the cpu, the symptoms are common and check the board for earth leaks. Remove the board from any casing, place on an insulated surface and having reseated all the critical components (cpu, ram, graphics card) try to boot.
Remember to enter the BIOS setup utility at the first attempt to check settings and timings etc; then restart and keep everything crossed.

No problems at the CPU, I figured out that the main cable to the motherboard wasn't installed properly. Now I could boot the system; BUT it restarted one time or so.

But some guys at Tomshardware says it's a mobo feature. I'll recall if any other issues will appear.

Is it still double booting? In bios set everything to optimized defaults and see if it still double boots. If not, change 1 item at a time with tests in between. That way, you will find out what the problem is that causes double booting. My board did the same thing at first. That's what I did and resolved the problem.

Actually it's all back normal now. Installed Windows 7 and it's running.

Btw, what's the normal temperature for this motherboard? Mine is on 60 celcius. Have no idea if it's normal or not.

My CPU temps are around 32 and my MB temp is at 31C. 60 is way too high.

It seemed quite stable though. But the board automatically turns down the fan speed. Maybe I should take over control.

Also it's a pretty powerful mobo.

My CPU temp is the same as yours.

The board at idle should reduce the CPU frequency to 1.6 and reduce the Vcore to .095-1.2 which is a good thing. If you have adjusted your Vcore, do it by offset method, don't set it at manual. If you need it. I will explain. Are you talking about your CPU temps or MB temps.

Also, what CPU cooler are you using? Your case should be quiet. I run my fans as high as the MB allows.

I was talking about the MB temp.

MB idle: 60
CPU: 31-32

I haven't touched a thing regarding the fans. I also have cables infront of the front fan, if that makes affect. I'm sure ASUS provided a utility for changing fan speed. My computer is much much much more quiter than ever before.

I use the standard i5-2500k cooler.

Try to arrange the cables so that they are not in front of fans and blocking ait flow. Turn the fans to high and see if the MB temp goes down. I don't have an Asus board, but I do not believe the MB should be anywhere near that temp. What program are you using to monitor that temp? It could also be a bad sensor in the MB. Check the temps in bios hardware monitor.

Oh yeah, bad sensors. I actually threw my hand in the case just quick, and it felt totally normal. I'm ill right now laying in my bed, i'll continue the work tonight or tommorow.

I was using Speccy, creators of CCleaner.

I would also check Bios. Speccy is good, real temp and core temp are good also although they don't give MB temps. Also, I believe you have AI control suite. Check with it, it may give better readings. Hope you get to feeling better. If I can help, feel free to contact me.

Where on the mobo is this temp being read? TMPIN1 or System are choices in SIW SIW | System Information for Windows by Gabriel Topala that I use. I was shocked to see my TMPIN1 showing 73 c but only to learn that this is a common temp error as my system shows 27 c and CPU @ 19-21 c at the same time.
