Looks like sp1 is progressing further than it did last time, we'll see if it goes through this time

There is a strange anomaly in your Event Logs - the last Application event appears to be from 2011, while the last System even appears to be this week.

This could mean nothing - but it certainly indicates a problem with logging, if nothing else.

Someone else may be better-placed to advise on clearing and resetting the logs. (It's time for bed here!)

The SFDiagnostic tool doesn't do the MGA report. You should follow this tut instead, as Arc suggested.

I'm not having problems with activation, sorry if I'm missing the point here but what does WGA have to do with the errors and blue screen while installing sp1, I am not installing it through windows updates I am installing it from a known working offline package downloaded from Microsoft that I have used lots of times. I work as a system admin and as part of my job I have to prep machines to be deployed. I use this offline update all the time as part of this process.

I think you should install SP1 at first.

I am going to request our activation and update expert to have a look why your update is failing.

but what are the dumps telling you ? Would installing SP1 really resolve these BSOD issues ?
Before installing SP1, what the dump told is meaningless.

And installing SP1 is the first step to troubleshoot your issue. Unfortunately there is no fix button. You have to go through a process.

You post a report following http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...n-issue-posting-instructions.html#post1957831
It will help to determine why SP1 is not getting installed. Later Noel will give you further steps.
^^^^This, I'm not an expert in the field, but the other helpers are. You are having issues, they are trying to help. It's entirely up to you if you want to accept it. Windows update fails SP1 too?

No I get it I completely understand I do appreciate all your guys help, I just don't think I was making it clear about what was going on with sp1 failing at first, to clarify, I already have sp1 downloaded from MS using the offline option. And yes sp1 fails, the computer blue screens when trying to install. The last set of files contains the dump from the bsod while trying to install sp1. Again I really do appreciate all your guys help here I just want to fix this issue so I can actually use the computer that I just built, it's really annoying that I just built this computer on Saturday and I haven't even been able to use it.

If I recall, the SP1 stand-alone installer is for deploying over multiple machines and MS recommends using Windows update for a "regular" PC user.

Have you ever used wsusoffilne? It's basically a program that "acts" as windows update fiction on windows 7 except it downloads all the updates needed locally and then installs them from the computer, I've been using it for a while now and it works very well, much better than the regular windows update feature built I to windows that will constantly lockup whenever it feels like, get stuck on updates and just flat out continue searching for hours for updates that I know are here but won't show up. This is how I initially tried to install sp1 and it also failed from there. This would have been the same files that would be downloaded it if I ran the windows update utility. It still failed. But just so that I can say I tried every possible approach I will try and do it using the regular windows update utility and post back tomrrow as I am not in from of the computer at the moment.

Thank you again for all your guys help.

I will also have the results from the memtest86+ ver 5 as apparently 4.20 doesn't read haswell correctly.

Ok, guys so I think we may have a lead on whats going on here, I left the ram test running overnight like you guys had suggested this time on ver 5, even though 4.20 had tested the ram clean at 16 passes, today when I got back to the machine ver 5 gave errors. Does this mean for sure that the RAM is the problem or could it still be some issue with the MOBO and that is causing the ram to give errors ?

Now follow the "Part 3: If You Have Errors:" of How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+

Errors/red lines means one or more RAM is faulty. But the fault may occur due to a faulty DIMM slot, too, which is a motherboard component. Using memtest86+, you can discriminate between a faulty RAM and a faulty motherboard.

How? Say you have two RAM sticks and two DIMM slots. You obtained errors at the test with all RAM sticks installed. Now, remove all the sticks but one. Test it in all the available slots, one by one. Continue the same procedure for all the available sticks.
How to make the inference that is it a RAM issue or it is a motherboard issue? Suppose you have got the result like that:

test|Slot1|Slot2
RAM1| Error | Error
RAM2|Good|Good
It is a RAM, a bad RAM.

But if you have got a result like that:

test|Slot1|Slot2
RAM1| Error |Good
RAM2| Error |Good
It is a motherboard issue. The particular slot is bad.

Well I'm on pass 4 right now with the first stick in slot 2, that last errors came on pass 3 and 5, test 8. How long should I wait until I feel certian enough that his stick is ok and switch to the other stick?

So if both sticks test good then I should try and test the first stick again in slot 4 to be sure it's the board?

Update: it's on pass 6 now and still no errors, should I switch to the next stick?

Minimum of 8 passes per stick/slot combination. It's a hassle but should resolve if the board or RAM is bad.

ok so the first and second stick tested fine in dimm 2, trying out in dimm 4 just to be sure. I left the first stick in for 8 passes and the second stick in overnight for 22 passes, both tested fine.
