I've recently built a new PC, it's my first build and I've managed to solve most problems that have occurred but I'm stuck on this one. It will load games fine if i load them straight from turning on the PC but if i run it for a while then load a game it resets itself, and doesn't leave and mini/memory dumps. The system runs fine normally and even with some old games but if i load a new game such as civilization 5 on steam or try running examples in UDK it resets.

Specs:

Mobo: Asus Maximus IV Extreme
CPU: Intel Core i7 - 2600k
Ram: 8GB G.Skill RipjawsX
Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3GB
PSU: Antec High Current Pro HCP -750
SSD: Samsung 830 256GB
HD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Cooling: Antec Kuhler H20 920
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium

At first i thought it was overheating but I've checked and the CPU and graphics card don't reach anywhere near a hot temperature before it crashes. I've also taken it to a local computer repair shop and the tests they ran all passed (i don't know what the tests they ran are but i'm going to call them tomorrow and find out / tell them it still crashes)

This is driving me mad so any help will be much appreciated,

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ive got a similar problem in a post i just made...

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/226497-kernel-power-41-playing-planet-entropia.html

As your computer is a new build, the first thing that strikes me.. have you accounted for power consumption correctly.

You didn't list the Power supply size. EDIT.. Just seen it.. my bad ;)

Also i belive some graphics cards need an additional cable to draw extra power from the motherboard.

Any way as we have similar problems, i will be watching your post, incase it has any ideas.

Just realised i hadn't attached the zip file requested in the posting instructions so here it is.

Hi militantduck, yeah was gonna say its 750w, i don't think it's a power issue, i've got the graphics card plugged in to the PCIE Express cable sraight from the PSU so thought that would cover it?

Cheers for the link to your thread, i'll be checking yours too for info.

Update:

Update: The people at the computer shop have told me that the tests showed it wasnt a hardware problem. They think the errors are down to an authentication problem with my windows 7 software.

Does this narrow down my issues enough for anyone to help? I've tried reinstalling the software and it still crashes in the same way.

Please help, thankyou

Sorry i should have been more specific in the first post, the card is a Sapphire HD 7970 3072MB PCI-Express Graphics Card, the link you gave is for the OC version.

I have wanted to test with a different card though but i havent got a spare one to change with. Will look into borrowing a friends at the weekend and see if it that fixes it though. Cheers

Security Software: ??? I recommend either of these two setups:Download and install the security setup of your choice, update the software, and then run a full scan of your system for viruses and malware. If you only install MSE, I would also suggest installing and updating Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download, but do not start the free trial/full version of Malwarebytes. Run a full scan with Malwarebytes after updating it. Post back the results.

Also, please run the MGADiag tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012 and copy the report in your next post.
I will try to get our leading experts with authentication issues to look at it.

Please post an MGADiag report - it will give us details of your system that can't be got easily otherwise, and may lead to some kind of resolution....
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
