hi im having a bit of a problem.Just build a new rig and it refuses to turn on at all.Ive made sure i check that the headers are in the right place as well as the psu being properly connected and it is.Even tired taking one stick of ram out and trying them in different slots still nothing. The power leds are working on the case and there is a light on the motherboard so i know its not faulty motherboard. But when i push the power button all i get is a beep so i thinking it might be faulty memory but would like a second opinion before i drive for an hour back to comp usa.And also i tried breadboarding with just the psu, motherboard and cpu, still no luck.Does anyone think they can help me out?heres the specs:

Hello and welcome to WSF aceyR

Do the fans in your case come on?

Does the fan in your power supply come on?

Also after making sure all you connections are correct remove the connection for your power switch at the motherboard. Take a flat head screw driver and short the pins this should start your system and tell us whether or not your power switch is good.

I just looked at your MB.

If you can't jump the pins and start that thing you probably got a bad unit.

Elite Group have given me trouble in the past and for that I have avoided that manufacture for about the last 4 years,

Sorry

IF no video or fans but you said the lights on the case were comeing on you may have a bad power supply.

With a unit that basically will not start(no fans come on and no video) it is more than likly the motherboard. But a bad PSU would be guess #2. There are power supply testers. Or you could use another known good unit to try and start the system. But it really sounds like a bad MB.

Instead of a new MB or PSU get a PSU tester for like $15 or less and find out for sure if thats the problem. A PSU tester is handy to have. I have 3 of them.

I think your problem is MB related though.

Let us know what happens.

Good luck.

With brand new builds and these problems I always recommend pulling the motherboard to make 200% sure you do not have any extra standoffs (or other foreign objects) under the motherboard shorting it out. Remember, ATX cases are designed to support 1000s of motherboards. The standard for motherboards only says if a mounting hole is there it must be in specific spots. It does not say there must be a mounting hole. So it is common for new builders, and careless experienced builders to put an extra stand-off in the case where no corresponding motherboard mounting hole exists.

I agree also that you may have a bad power supply.

Did you apply a proper layer of thermal interface material?

Welcome to Windows 7 Support forums,
Acey a common issue with builds are the correct placements of the micro pins from the case to the mother board. IE: HD sound connection, the pins that control the power up button etc.
Consult your MOBO manual and diagrams so thet the correct connections are made. If even 1 connection is properly connected power up will fail and the system will not post.
