New build

That's what I wanted until I started reading reviews of all of the boards. Thats why I suggested you do the same. You can learn alot from reading reviews of people who have used them. Asus also seems to be having some troubles with their BIOS also.

You had an Extreme4, right?

You are welcome, hope you find your sweet spot in the build.
As an epilog to this I'll add that when one starts a build, pick a CPU first. Get the fastest most badass one you can afford for a degree of "future proofing". This will determine the motherboard/socket combo you need. Decide how much RAM you wil want/need and pick the board accordingly, dual, triple channel? It should have a couple fo USB 3.0 ports, those devices are coming now.
The graphics card is an important descision too based on whether the machine will a a gaming rig or basic internet, emailing, video rig. Most people won't need a floppy these days (I still have one) since Win 7 can use a flash drive for the same purpose. You'll probably want either a DVD or BluRay combo (burning) drive...or two. An internally connected multi-card reader is very handy for camera or phone cards too.
This pile of parts needs a place to live in now, pick a case with good ventilation or with options to add more fans, optical drives, HDD's, etc.
Add up all the power needs of everything and select a power supply to run it all. To be safe my practice is to add 25% to what is needed so it can operate within its most efficient place.
Cheers
Gary

I still have the Extreme4. When I started I wanted the Sabertooth, but after reading the reviews it came down to the extreme6 or extreme4. They had the best specs and reviews of all the 1155 boards. But the Sabertooth looks good still.

Extreme6 it is.
Will I have any trouble running the GTX480s off a 700w?
Is 700w much of a price difference on the electricity bill over my previous 350W?

Following what Britton30 said, the Psu is enoguh :)
I just want to know the additional cost out of sheer curiosity.
BTw:What is the difference between the G Skill Ripjaws X and the G Skill Snipers? The snipers are worth 1 euro more, but they have the same specs. I like the Ripjaws because they say specially designed for SB, but I've read that they are basically the same chip...Any thoughts?
BTW how many years will this build last approx?
I was thinking 5, maybe 6 years?
Thanks again.

I don't know what the difference between the 2 is. I heard good reports about both. I bought the ripjaws x because it was designed for SB and the reviews were excellent. I don't know how long the build will last. Most people say any build plan on a rebuild in 3 years. I do it more frequently than that simply because I like to. It also may depend on how much you OC it.

I plan on light OC, as this is my first high-end PC and I want to treat it nicely and not have it break every 2 months. :)
I hope it will last 5 years, my current PC lasted 4 after a GFX card and mobo change (due to failiure) I hope to order it soon and will post back soon.
As for the RAM, I'm going to stick with the ripjaws, since they are special for SB. The snipers look nice though... but then again, the sabertooth looks nice too ;)
Thanks to everyone :)

I think you already chosen the HAF X. If it isn't the coolest it is one of the coolest.

This is the case I have. In Win Dragon Rider. It can hold it's own too. But, most any of the HAF cases are pretty good.

Hello all,
My current PC is most probably motherboard-dead, so it is time to get a new one most likely.
I am aiming for 1000€, no more than 300 over that limit. Silence and cooling is a MUST. I am tired of overheated mobos and GPUs. I want to be able to play games without having to check temps every 5 seconds.
I am opting for choosing the compenents and having the store put them together.
The website is spanish, if you dont understand I can translate here or have google translate translate the page for you
PLEASE, no TDR or stability errors. Ive seen enough of those.
Here is my current selection:
Presupuesto a medida. PcComponentes.com

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

May I suggest possibly looking at the GTX 570? I myself built my new PC and when I was looking at GPUs the two potentials were the 480 and the 570. One of the main reasons why I didn't get the 480 is because it is very power hungry and very loud from what I've read, It's also prone to overheating aswell. The 570 is the one that I bought and I am very happy with it's performance, I run Bad Company 2 on ultra high with top anti aliasing and all and I still get 60-70fps nps.
Just my two cents!

The problem with the 570 is that it is 50€ over my budget :S
If I do get the 480, it will be a Windforce 3 (3 fans), and I will have the air duct the haf x brings.
As for the cases, I like the HAF, because it has lots of big fans, and durability for me here is a definite must.
Again, thank you for your input! :D
