Just learned my 890 mobo will accept the new Bulldozer. So now I can just wait for the fun to begin and let's all hope it takes it to Intel something fierce, we'll all benefit !

I'm hoping that it does give Intel a solid run for the money.....but I have a sneaking suspicion that Intel will have a new chip out around the same time that performs as well if not better. And like the last few years, I think the Intel will also be very close in overall price.

That's scares me. That signals to me that they don't have the performance and are going to have to come after Intel on price alone. If it came down to an 8 core AMD at $185 and a Core i5-2500K at $210 and the Intel outperformed it, I know which I would buy. No questions.

I fully suspect those who bought AM3 mobos and have been waiting and waiting and waiting for these new killer AMD CPU's are going to end up disappointed to find that their shiny new AMD rigs can't outperform somebody else's rig from more than a year ago. If this happens, it will be just another disappointment from AMD after truckloads of hype.

Yeah, but AMD fanboys have been raving for years now about this new upcoming Bulldozer chip that was going to absolutely decimate anything from Intel. But the chip keeps getting delayed, and delayed and now it's a Q4 chip. Suffice it to say, if this chip is not absolutely great, but rather just good enough...I think many diehard AMD fans are going to rethink their position.

^ I'm not necessarily talking about you. That was just a collective term for all of the AMD fans I have discussed this with the past few years that always 2nd guess why I spec'd a machine with an Intel CPU...rather than waiting for the new Bulldozer chip or at least get an AMD mobo so that I could get the killer bulldozer when it came out.

^ Yeah dude, sorry if you took it personal. I'm not the type that will throw a personal attack around. I really, really, really want to see AMD come out with a killer chip. I've owned many AMD's int he past, but the last one was an Athlon 64 X2...because that was the last time they were on top. I just have this gut feeling saying that the "bulldozer" which was supposed to be that killer chip, simply isn't going to be.

Either way, I think I'll be sticking with Intel. Still not sure though whether to buy Corsair 1600Mhz RAM or G.Skill 2133Mhz RAM.

I think you're smart to stay with Intel, for me my investment is in AMD with an upgrade potential there to the FX. I think the G. Skills would be fine but all my builds have been with Corsair and out of 12 or more sticks purchased I've never had to replace one. I can't speak for any performance gains other than to state the obvious that the faster ram should in theory be.......faster ram, but that as we all know isn't always the way the timing game plays out.
