I bought a new desktop tower from Costco 2 weeks ago, a Dell XPS 8700 running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. It did not come with installation disks. I tried several times to make a system repair disk, but got a message that "Microsoft Windows Repair Disk has stopped working."
I set the computer up, but made a couple of mistakes and now when I try to do a System Restore, it says it did not complete successfully.
I would like to restore it to the way it was the day they delivered it and start over.
Dell is sending me Windows 7 Installation Disk(s). There is a DBR_BOOT partition(?) as well as a C: drive on the computer.
What is the best thing to do?
Thanks, cb
