New Firefox earns full WebRTC

Following the recent introduction of full Web Real-Time Communications to Chrome, Tuesday's update to Firefox makes it the second browser to support the plugin-free protocol.

The debut of WebRTC, as the protocol is known, in Firefox 22 (download for Windows | Mac | Linux) is no small potatoes. "Plugins are the single largest source of security and stability issues that we see," said Johnathan Nightingale, Mozilla's vice-president of engineering for Firefox.

WebRTC is planned for Firefox for Android (download), which also updated today, but it has yet to be added to the mobile browser.

I've been running FF 22 for a few hours now...
So far, no problems with the update.

Yep. No crashes/hiccups. Will see if my trashy netbook sees any performance improvement from the hardware acceleration they added. Although I doubt opengl works that well on GMA3150

I'm stuck back at Firefox 12 which is the last version where I can drag 7F Bookmarked links Title-intact into posts without converting them to the untitled URL. Still searching for a workaround or fix. Firefox forums are no help at all.

what about tiny url or a similar site to change them all, then you can upgrade.


edit, the forum changes the url's to the tutorial title

There's no convenience I've found comparable to dropping down the Bookmark menu, tap first letter, drag into post. I can slice and dice several of them into each paragraph in seconds.

But they need to stay titled so I can also work the title into the post text.

yeah i appreciate the conveinenc of the drag and drop but for non forum tutorials or links,
cant you type the title then highlight it and then add the link, more hassle but worth having a faster more secure browser with all singing and dancing newness.

You mean drag from the URL box, Julian?

Edit: Creating a link in a post with the link maker takes time while dragging a bookmark from drop-down takes none. The problem is that after version 12 it turns the dragged URL to a URL and it stays that way in most posts. I need it to drag and remain as its titled so I can edit the title as needed (or not) but dragging a URL is too clumsy and loses thread continuity. That's all. Hope I explained it better this time.

not sure what you mean greg, if you have a url wherever its from , bookmark or a tab you have opened then copy the url and click the link icon on the forum editor . that would paste the link as is ,but if you type your title ...
example
this is a link
then highlight it ,click the hyperlink icon and add the url then the title is the link . so you could name it each time.
much more hassle than a drag n drop but takes seconds, i appreciate you probably use lots in a short time on the forum by comparison to myself but it does mean you get a safe new browser.
the difference between ff 12 and 21 is phenominal.

i just tried to drag a bookmark to the hyperlink box and it put it in there , it worked
so thats one less bit of hassle no need to copy paste the url.

edit,
i tried draging a url from a different page in the url/adress bar and that wont drag to the hyperlink box on the forum editor.
but bookmarks will.

I have no idea of what you are talking about? I am using Firefox 23 Beta 1 now. It is out.

What you fail to grasp is that Firefox 23 is better then 22. Firefox 24 is better than 23, Firefox 25 is better than 24 and so on. I used to use only Nightly builds but I got tired of a update every day. So I moved on to the Beta Builds. This ends my explanation on how Firefox works. It is much the same as Windows. Windows 7 is Better than Vista..etc. Got it?

Firefox 22 is configured to take the OS DPI. So if you're like me, and have Windows 7 set to 150%, the Firefox display is grossly huge.

Here's how to get it back to "normal":
Go into about:config
Find this string: layout.css.devPixelsPerPx
Change the value from -1.0 to 1.0
