New GPU and PSU causing CPU Tempreture to skyrocket?

As far as I can tell GPU is working fine, its running at around 40 degrees, I even tried putting my old GPU back in and I get the same sort of tempretures for my CPU. As for the PSU its a Corsair TX 850W 80 Plus, I think that is a pretty well known brand.

My PSU does have alot of cables coming out from it, most which are not in use, can that have an effect? Unfortunately I do not have the old PSU anymore so I cant test it.

Is there a way to test if the PSU is working properly or not?

Ok so I was able to get my hands on a new heatsink, and I am still having the same problem. So does this mean there is something wrong with my PSU?

Btw how accurate is Core Temp? The only reason I noticed the temps is because I decided to check, the computer has not restarted without that software being open. As a test, is it safe not to have Core Temp open and push the computer to see if it shuts off by itself? I assume the computer shuts off once it reaches 99 degrees?

I would check the temperatures in the BIOS, if you haven't already done so.

That tends to be the most accurate.

Hey guys

Since the world did not end I thought I might as well give it all another try. I brought a new fan, a basic one, and my tempretures are much better.

Do you think it is still a little high considering the computer is not doing much? I did not reapply the paste as the fan already had it pre applied on it.

Oh and Merry Christmas.

Your right, I did not apply paste as the new fan already had it applied and I assumed that was good enough... so i guess i was wrong.
