I just bought an HP Pavilion (dv4-2045dx) laptop about a week ago, and I am having issues with it freezing when opening up more than 2 tabs in Mozilla Firefox or chat applications (AIM, Google Talk) I've changed the compatibility mode for these programs, and it works for a little while, but then freezes up again. My laptop also hangs when I tried navigating through a DVD menu or playing music.

I'm not sure if it's the laptop or Windows 7, but I'm debating on whether or not I should exchange my laptop for another or send it in to HP.

Does it only effect firefox. Dvd, music, and chat applications?

As far as I know, yes. I don't have Microsoft Office on this computer yet. So far, it has just been used for entertainment purposes.

hmm, well it's a brand new computer right? Are there any other programs you've installed recently that may be hogging reasources? Open task manager to see if there is somthing using a lot of CPU/ram. Other than that I would just exchange it for a new one since you just bought it like a week ago.

Darslant is right, check the return policy as your first option. It's easier and quicker with a new computer.

Beyond that, then try posting this for us to look at:
MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type "msinfo32 /nfo C:\Users\Public\Desktop\TEST.NFO\" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to the C:\Users\Public\Desktop directory to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back.
