I expect to receive my new Asus Hero board and i5 4670k at the beginning of this coming week. I've built several systems, but not since '08 and am a bit confused re: UEFI. I plan to use my existing Sata II mechanical HDDs for the time being. It seems like the more information I get, the more confused I get.
I'll be doing a fresh install of win7 x64.
So my questions:
1. can an mbr HDD use uefi?
2. Are there benefits/caveats to mbr/uefi )? Is it better to use GPT (keeping in mind, mech HDD)?
3. I'd like to install from a 4 GB patriot USB thumb drive. I have an iso of win 7 x64 w/sp1 slipstreamed. Should I use the Create Bootable Win 7...tut or UEFI Bootable USB...tut ?
I do have a 1TB WD sata6GB drive that I use in a docl for backups. Preferable to use as sytem drive in this case?
I appreciate any pointers or URLs. Thanks for your patience with what must be elementary questions for those in the know.
