I have an OCZ Vertex 3 – MAX IOPS Edition 120G SSD. I use PefectDisk defragmentor to maintain my con ventional HDD's. I do NOT ever use PefectDisk to defrag my SSD drive. The analyze function of PefectDisk tells me that my SSD drives performance at 84%. I have been using the drive now for about 6 months & have noticed a slow degradation in performance over that period. My question is, if I were to do a secure erase, update any firmware that might be needed(I'm 1 update behind) & then restore the drive using a current image copy backup to reload my Win 7 system, would that improve its performance, or do more harm than good???

Anyone have any suggestions, comments, opinions, information?

Thanks & have a great day,
Jim

Hi jimdot. I have an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD and have performed a disk wipe a number of times, without any problems. The reason being, I can't seem to restore a system image to my SSD without wiping it first. Whether it will solve your problem I can't say, but it seems worth trying. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply LittleJay. I've not yet had the need to do a restore to my SSD yet as you have so I've not experienced the problem you've had. I'll be taking your suggestion in the next week or so & see how things turn out.

Thanks again.

Jim
