New installation of windows 7 keeps crashing, different types of BSOD

Hello,

My fairly old computer has been unfunctional for a while and I decided to reinstall windows 7 pro x64. I am having so many troubles I probably wont remember all of them.

What I do (multiple times with variations):

• Boot installer from USB, delete all partitions
• Install win7 on my 1 TB drive, leave other drive unallocated.
• Insert new USB with software: Avast Free Antivirus, Network Adapter Driver (Atheros-FORCED-7x64-AR8171-drp), manual windows update file (Windows6.1-KB3138612-x64) because automatic windows update gets stuck, All-in-1 MOBO drivers&utilities (I suspected these, but am now crashing without them installed)
• During setup, use verifier.exe to see if things work so far
• Try, sometimes with crash, to install GFX card driver
• When things seem to go "well" I install a game (Pillars of Eternity). This frequently causes crashes after a short while.
• I have run memtest86+-5.01.usb.installer and removed a single block of RAM which is different from the others. I now have 3x 4 GB RAM which all pass memtest in all sockets, and also pass when tested together.

I am running out of ideas here, and I cannot interpret dmp files, like the experts. My last idea is to install win7 on my other HDD, and remove my 1 TB drive. But I have a bad feeling that an important component is defective, or even multiple components being defective.

Any assistance or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

PS. I recently cleaned up my office and I think I lost some install CDs that may be important - specifically the MOBO driver CD. I hoped to just get these drivers online.

Please complete your system specs, missing at least the following that I can't get from the files.

• Case,
• Cooling,
• PSU,

Please fill in your system specs

Please follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.
The PSU, cooling and other stuff are NOT mentioned in the tool.

Please check ASRock for BIOS updates.

Seeing driver verifier enabled, all options, and no driver is flagged it is very possible that there is a hardware problem if a BIOS update isn't available or not helping.

What makes you say that? Windows Update has installed useful drivers for me such as a driver for GTX 460 SE. Not the latest, but enough to get full HD enabled.

EDIT: I have now updated my BIOS.

As you have a custom install, its best to install drivers direct from the manufacturer.

I don't understand what that means. What log is large? Where is the size indicated?
So my monitor is mentioned in the log, but BenQ say on their website that it should be plug and play.

If you are referring to the CDs that might have come with the MOBO and/or CPU and GFX, I don't think I have those. I have however, been looking for those on the manufacturers' websites. On the current attempt to get the install to work, I have not run the mobo driver setup, because previously, they caused crashes with verifier.exe.

Hi Morten,
The CD's are your starting point, (they could be quite old).
So as soon as you install you should go straight to the manufacturers website, for EACH component, which is why Axe0 told you to update your Bios.
Then the majors >>Chipset & Graphics >> finally the all the others
IN THE ABOVE ORDER

Then run driver verifier, if you have a problem

The log i was referring to is part of the posting instructions output.
As you have it on your desktop
goto the updatelog section.
Sizes are shown in the left hand column.

Windows Update is TRYING to install a newer driver for Benq and its failing, thats why i posted the Turn Off instructions.

I thought I wouldn't need them anymore, as I was going to buy a new computer, but I spent the money on paying off a debt instead. Now I'm trying to salvage this old piece. If this cannot be done without the CDs, I will forfeit.

A RETAIL W7 PRO licence
THIS CAN BE MOVED TO >>ANY<< computer. (as good as GOLD)

I now have a completely pure installation (I write from a different computer) without internet.
I have a USB stick with the windows update files for manual update (ThrashZone's instructions). On that stick are also driver files for the mobo and GFX. Drivers for my CPU are not available at AMD's website. I'm not sure such drivers exist as standalone. I don't know about smaller components such as I/O and stuff. So please tell me what to install.

From what you've all said so far, my plan would be like this:

• Deactivate WU auto-update
• Deactivate sleep/hibernate
• Install mobo drivers using all-in-1 installer
• Reboot
• Install network adapter driver
• Reboot
• Install nvidia GTX 460 driver (downloaded)
• Reboot
• Sequentially manual install win7 update files (as ThrashZone)
• Reboot
• Install Avast Free Antivirus
• Reboot
• Plug to internet
• Scan for updates with WU

Edit: Maybe I have misunderstood the all-in-1 driver from ASRock > 870 Extreme3 R2.0. Installing it did not make my network adapter work, and I see now there is a "Atheros Lan driver ver:1.0.0.45" on the same website. Should I just get every single item on that website?

You have 2 internet Network adapters
Ethernet
Wireless

The Ethernet ones should be on your All-in-One
Now your Wifi
can you open Device manager
Network Adapter/Problem/Other
right click > properties > details > Hardware ids
Copy/paste the PCI\VEN details
