New Laptop Crashes on Sleep/Hibernation

I recently purchased an HP G42 - 240US. HP G42-230US Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

The notebook came with Windows 7 Home premium 64x.

Whenever I put the computer into sleep or hibernation mode it becomes unresponsive. The only way to get it to respond is to restart it by holding down the power button and restarting. After which, I get the msg windows has recovered from a serious error.

I had tried doing a bios update but that has not helped. The computer still freezes/crashes when the lid is closed or put in to sleep/hibernation mode.

I currently have no peripherals plugged in, and there is no biometric scanner.

Any help and or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I feel your pain and have a dear friend who just had to replace her HP G50 112NR laptop for the sleep mode had fried the mobo. HP wanted $500 to fix it which was more than she paid for it. During her long conversation with HP they told her this was a recognized problem. She bought it at Office Depot and she took it back to them and their service confirmed it was a bad mobo and arranged a deal on transferring her data to a new Toshiba laptop.

Since this isnt really a BSOD is there anyway to dump or find out what exactly is happening? I dont think the motherboard is fried all other aspects seem to be in working order.

You might not have any dumps, but perhaps we can fish other useful info out of the report.

It appears your Realtek network drivers are the cause. Please update them to the latest version.

If the probem persists, upload your dump. I see you have 4 of them.

Ok, I installed the 2 realtek drivers from the HP website. Upon shutting down the computer it hanged at shutting down and then had a BSOD. Here are the the dump files.

Also after installing those drivers i decided to try to try putting the notebook to sleep. When trying to wake it up I let it sit for about 30 minutes, after which I got a bsod. Here are the new dumps for that.

when i look at the expanded network section it only shows "Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller" and "Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter"

As far as the other codecs and drivers I am working on those now.
