Solved New Monoprice keyboard disconnecting after a few minutes

I recently received this Monoprice Gaming Keyboard and am running into a serious issue. The keyboard itself works fine, very satisfying to use, but a few minutes after I plug it in (via USB) it simply "turns off." The NumLock light shuts off and the keyboard no longer functions with the computer, despite the fact that nothing has been unplugged. It won't reconnect unless I physically un-plug and re-plug in the USB cord. After that it takes a few moments (up to a couple minutes) to reconnect and become usable again, but only until it quits on me once more.

This keyboard is brand new, right out of the box, and the instructions given are as follows (and I quote):

1. Plug your keyboard into the USB ports of your computer.
2. Windows will automatically install all the necessary driver for the keyboard.

(And by the way, I made no mistakes in typing those instructions, it's written just like that.)

So clearly I'm frustrated that this doesn't work as intended, especially when its basically advertised as "plug-and-play" not to mention there is a large sticker on the box that states it's compatible with Windows 7.

I've tried a couple things here, including making sure the computer cannot shut off the USB device to conserve power, as well as updating Windows and all the drivers for both the keyboard and my motherboard. I basically did everything found in this thread but to no avail.

Any and all help is appreciated, thank you very much in advance,

Problem with the Keyboard

Someone at CNET suggested I try out the keyboard on another Windows 7 machine, and sure enough, the problem persisted there. This thread is closed.
