I'm sorry but I have been following this thread and most if not all info about the motherboard in question, settings boot options SATA connectors, are all covered in the manual that came with the motherboard, or can be downloaded from the Gigabyte website.

As to your last post about native mode. What is native mode? That must be something specific to the motherboard or a term used by Gigabyte.

To me native mode can mean either setting the SATA ports to IDE or to AHCI. Native to me would be IDE mode as there is not any SATA HDD or CD/DVD drive that will not work when the SATA ports are set to IDE.

I have never used Gigabyte boards. I have a liking for Asus and have been using them for the last 10+ years, before that Supermicro.
So I am not familiar with the terminology used by Gigabyte.

In any event connect ONE hard drive to the FIRST SATA port. Connect ONE DVD drive to the last Standard SATA port, not one of the 6GB ports. Do not put any other HDDs or DVD drives in the system until you have Windows installed.

well i have 2 320 gb hard drives, with no Operating system on either of them, but as it seems i cannot get through the entire installation of windows 7 because it just says restarting computer in 10 seconds to continue and then brings me back to where i first started installing windows 7, and Shootist the user manual doesn't tell you how to setup your BIOS it just says what the defaults are. Btw what does it mean if i get a message saying Boot from CD/DVD: and under it says Boot failed: Enter a system disk and press enter,

What happens when you plug in only the cleaned HD, set HD as first to boot in BIOS setup, then trigger the DVD using F12 Boot menu key?

Will it restart into the installation or the DVD after install?

What about if you remove the DVD at the restart as I suggested earlier?

yes it just restarts the installation, but i found a cable in the other room that had 1 end a HDD adapter and the other end a Sata adapter so i hooked that up to my hard drive as sort of a test and it brought me to a new screen i've never been able to get to telling me to 1. insert a windows installation disk 2. Select a language and click next 3. click repair computer, so that is what i am doing now maybe i needed that HDD adapter cable all along and i didn't know it but i'm going to find out after it gets done "repairing hardware" and I will tell you what happens after i atempt at installing windows 7 again

Do you have IDE drives? Is this a cable which came with the HD or mobo?

If you've plugged one to SATA, what is the SATA controller setting in BIOS? It may be repairing because of the setting. Is it running Startup Repair? What messages are you getting?

yes it's running startup repair and is still repairing been repairing for about 30-40 minutes -.- and to be honest i'm not entirely sure where this cord came from it was an extra cord in my old computer box you know the one i told you i factory bought and now rebuilding well this cord was in that box the HD came with since, i didn't replace my HDD i figured it might be to some use

yes it just restarts the installation

If you remove the DVD at the restart it cannot start the installation again. Please try the steps above which have worked repeatedly in this same situation as they apparently have not been tried correctly or completely.

Okay i got to the installation but it keeps saying my product key is invalid -.- and this is a brand new disk
